"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error"

I have installed some education software on a PC. When I try to run the program I have the following Error message just as the animated menu finishes loading, "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error". The program then aborts.

I am using Windows 98SE on an Elonex machine with all critical updates, Plll 450Mhz, 128Mb RAM, 6Gb free HDD space, Nvidia 32Mb GeForce 2 MX400 Graphics card. These specs more than meet the minimum required to run the program.

I know the software works as it does so on my Dell PC with an identital spec.

Any ideas why I would be getting this error and what the possible solution would be?
