is it possible that your copy of XP has not been validated, as I believe these are the updates that require this.

You should get a message to the effect that your XP cannot be validated if that is the case. You can call Microsoft to resolve the problem on 0800 018 8354.
Try Dial-A-Fix, tick everything and let it do its work, reboot. click here

Hi, If you have SP2 on your computer ,this should be the right download, click here Try it from here and not the up-dates,Before you download it , If you have any extra toolbars on your computer ,either delete them or up-date them, then turn of your Firewall And Anti-Virus, Then download it,Anti-virus +Firewall will automatically restart on reboot. If you get that downloaded OK, then you can download the rest of them One at a time,

Maybe a good cleanout with C Cleaner,I go into Tools Options. And delete Temporary files, Cookies, and History,I do that once a week,You can also cancel Automatic Download from microsoft,See if that helps,

Consider yourself very lucky that you cant upgrade to IE7!

This is one buggy release from Microsoft..
