hi i had to do a xp repair, everything went ok but now i cannot get into the update site i get a box saying "the requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context" any help please
you said it "repair" you cant expect 100% perfectformat - install you expect 100% perfect.
You'll need to install manually a SERVICE PACK. If your disc had SP1 then google for microsoft SP2 for XP.Have a look here; click here
thxs but thats not a lot of help i thought this was a helproom but i didn't expect not having any updates if you have to reply please be constructive
Here's another link that might help. Please note that I've never tried it and it's at your own risk; click here
Maybe try Dial a Fix see if that helps.
thxs i have just checked and it says i have service pack 3 installed
Daft question is it just the update site or other websites aswell using IE.Unsure if your posting from the affected machine via IE or another browser.By doing the repair it may of overwritten the latest IE on your machine hence the error.
If Service Pack 3 is loaded you have not done a Repair. As it would remove all Windows Updates and you would have to download them all and reload them
I suggest you try doing another repair using the Operating System CD not a Restore CD
