Microsoft SyncToy needs NET framework - which one?

  Rockarch 09:20 21 Aug 2007

I was planning to use Microsoft SyncToy to backup folders on a network from one pc to another. I downloaded Synctoy and then when I came to install it I got an error message saying ' You need .NET framework'or something similar - I was then redirected to a page on microsoft's website which had about 20 possible downloads on it.
Can anyone help me with:
1. A brief explanation of .Net framework & why I need it?
2. Which particular one I need to download for a Pentium 4 pc running XP Pro.
3. Any other suggestions of backup software thats free & easy to use!

Check in your Add Remove you will see if there are any installed,They normally get downloaded with Microsoft up-Dates.There are 4 versions,. 1.0 .1.1 2.0 and 3.0 If you have any on there it will mean you just have to download any that is not.But sorry I don.t know the exact version that you need but I am sure someone will be able to explain it to you.

Thanks - I was only asking because I didn't know which version to download as there are 2. I figured it out in the end and SYncToy is making a backup right now! Been meaning to sort this out for a very long time!
