Microsoft Security Essentials

  shaduf 20:16 06 Sep 2010

Until recently I was using Microsoft One Care for all my perceived security needs. Unfortunately it has been discontinued by Microsoft who offer instead at no cost Microsoft Security Essentials.
I have not seen any reference to this suite either on a forum or in a magazine.
It seems a bargain particularly as it is Free and with the addition of things like CCleaner would seem an ideal package.
Does anyone use it ior have any views on it please?

Yes I use it on one of my computers, it seems to do the job with little user intervention. Haven't had any problems with it so far (a few months).

If your using VISTA or W7 then MSE + windows own firewall backed up with a free Antispyware such as malwarebytes is all you need.

Howevr if using XP then you need a decent firewall aswell such as Zonealarm.

MSE is excellent. Clean up tools for "One care" here which you should do before installing MSE.
