Microsoft Office 2003

Hi Guys I would like some ideas on this as its one of those faults I cant put my finger on but I suspect is something simple.
For some reason all of a sudden when I open outlook I can no longer create a new mail, reply, access options or import or export. This is also the same with word, the buttons are greyed out. If I open word it brings up a new document but I cant type on it. I have reinstalled Office but that makes no difference. I have turned off AV still no difference. In the back of my mind I know what the problem is just cant get it to the front so any help appreciated please.

Have you run and Office repair?

Available from "help" within an office application or via add/remove programs.
