Microsoft NET.passport

Yesterday I logged on to Microsoft's web site and changed my registered e-mail address for my NET.passport. This morning I received an e-mail, which looks like a genuine one from Microsoft, asking me to click on a link to verify the change. Having read about bogus e-mails in this Forum in recent times, I am very dubious about requests to click on links to verify details. Any advice anyone?

Net Passport requires you to do just that. However you are correct to be aware and cautious.

...when you click for verification the new e-mail address becomes valid.

Many thanks - you can't be too careful these days.
