Microsoft Messenger

Can anyone tell me how I can disable Messenger. I do not want to use this feature but can not figure out how to disable it. It is very annoying when my firewall is constantly advising me that this programme is trying to access the internet, usually every couple of minutes.

Start, Run, type or paste in

Shoot the messenger is here:

However, I suggest you follow the advice from VoG™; it works fine. I was glad to get rid of Windows Messenger; (not to be confused with MSN Messenger).
