microsoft explorer pages popping up..want 2 stop

Just recently advertising pages from - microsoft internet explorer (TOOL BAR AT TOP STATES FROM THIS SOURCE AND SMALL EXPLORERR ICON APPEARS LEFT SIDE) pages keep popping up when i am signed onto AOL..not sure why this is happening and i wish to stop them as annoying and some are adult content..(have kids)..can i just remove the microsoft explorer or is there a setting i must use to stop this..I do not wish to hamper me internet browsing whilst on AOL..any help would be helpfull..(not to technical but i can navigate around ok)..many thanks
