microsoft conterfeit pop up

  prestoni 21:14 10 Oct 2006

I have recently started to get a pop up window saying that i dont have a genuine version of windows xp and asked would I like to resolve it, I would just like to get rid of the message as it stops me booting my pc up, also I get an icon next to the clock saying I am subject to software conterfeiting. can any one tell me how to delete or disable these messages please. I think I may have caused this by inadvertantly sending a error report to MS.

Run spybot search and destroy and Adaware which you can find free on the internet...

This looks like a false message...

Not if your copy is genuine..

When you clear it from your system then in future when you receive Windows Security Updates always select Custom and not Express.
The Custom method gives you the chance to de-select WGA(Windows Genuine Advantage) from the list of new updates.WGA is the spyware program from MS.

If you follow the link you can get a genuine Windows XP from Microsoft for around £90 which will remove the pop-up for ever.
