Microsoft Access - "General Find" changes

When using Access I go to Tools/Options/Find and select General search, click on Apply, and during the current session it works OK as I want it to i.e. it looks in the current table and "any part of field" But - when re-starting Access I find it defaults back to looking in "ID" and "Whole field".
It has been functioning correctly until recently and I am not aware of any changes made that could affect the situation.
Any ideas out there?

Have you tried an Access repair?

Access->Help->Detect and Repair. You may need to place your Office/Access disc in the CD drive. G
