micro sd cards only last about a month

  vmeldrew4291 11:34 03 Mar 2013

I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1. I am on my 4th micro sd card, they only last about a month and then neither my tablet or my pc can see them and all data is therefore lost.

I would have accepted 1 as going faulty, maybe 2 at a stretch but not 3 ,I fully expect forth one to fail soon.Does anyone know if there are any issues with the tab 2 and micro sd cards,Crds have been scandisc and samsung makes of 16gb and 64 gb size

Did you format the cards in your Tab before trying to use them?

Generally these cards have a very good warranty on satisfaction, so it would appear that there is another problem if the cards are failing rather premature?.

Ian in Northampton comment sound feasible.

I have been using a Sandisc 8 gig in my Music Angel for over 12 months and no prob. Also on my N7 occasionally via an OTG cable. Hasn't failed yet.

I did format cards before use. I checked out a few forums and have found that samsung devices in general seem to have an underlying issue with sd cards,

My solution is to use an otg cable and a 32gb flash drive, eliminating direct contact with the tab ,will see if this makes a difference

What Brand of SD Card?

the cards should work out of the box, if you start formatting memory cards or ssd drives you are in effect wearing them out faster

My guess is that either the samsung galaxy tab is faulty (and hence damaging the micro sd cards) or the cards are being removed whilst still in use as far as the tab is concerned and hence the corruption.
