For years I worked with someone who pronounced Linux as 'Line ux' as opposed to 'Linnux', and he wouldn't hear of it any other way. I got so used to his way of saying it that I found myself doing the same thing once, when I was giving a talk on computing as a career to some sixth - year students. I didn't realise I had done it, and I wondered why some members of my audience were smiling.
