Messenger problem

I have just discoverd what has been causing me pc problems for the past few months or so.

The problem has been after a few hours my computer slows down to a snails pace. Last night, I restarted my computer and decided to look in my Windows Task Manager. CPU usage was 2-4%...normal. I decided to leave it on over night to see what happens.
When i awoke a few hours ago, I saw the CPU usage was 100% and had been for hours. I checked on the "proccesses" tab to see what was using it all up.
Turns out, it is a program called "msmsgs.exe.". Is this the original computer messanger or my MSN? I use MSN a lot and need it.
