Just upgraded to Win XP Home and still exploying it.

How can I completely shut down or uninstall Messenger?

I have disabled and stopped it in Set Progammes Access & Defaults (see April's PC Advisor) but when I first bootup Zone Alarm shows Messenger had tried to access Internet anywhere between 50 and 100 times. This is clearly using resources.

Any help in resolving this annoying programme would be appreciated.

Are you talking about Messenger Service, Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger?

Start, Run, type in

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

and click OK. This will remove Windows Messenger.
