Message failed - too many hops

I've been trying to send a message, via Hotmail, for a few days now, but it keeps being returned, with the message "Message failed - too many hops".

Can anyone explain what it means?

Thanks

DD

There is a limit to the number of servers a package of information will go through.

No idea how many but 256 comes to mind. The number of hops was limited/defined to ensure that lost packages died rather than blocking up the system for ever.
