"I have two hard drives on my system"

Two actual physical hard drives? - or two logical hard drives (two drive letters on one actual drve)?

Sorry, two physical hard drives - one is 120GB and the other is 40GB. I'm running windows xp pro. i have about 10g left on my 120GB one...

Is it a very easy process to muck up?

You can't "merge" two physical hard drives - they always need to have different drive letters.

If you're running out of space, move some of you work files onto the other drive.
