Hi,
I will be looking to upgrade my RAM memory in my PC and I have a question; My motherboard has 4 DIMM slots with 2 x 512MB DDR-2 RAM 667MHz in use (Max 4GB). I want to upgrade to 2GB would it be advisable to use 1 x 1GB or 2 x 512MB DDR-2 RAM 667MHz?
Regards

Simple rule of thumb.

If the dimm sockets are close together ( no gaps ) and the same colour, get a 1Gb stick. Not dual channel memory.

if the there is a space between the dimm sockets ( 2 X 2 ) and they are coloured differently, then get 2 X 512Mb dimms. Because it is very likely you have dual channel memory and dual channel memory works faster in matched pairs.
