Memory upgrade

  legs111 17:05 19 Oct 2005

I have recently installed 128mb SDRAM in a spare PC, yet it is showing as only 64mb SDRAM.

The motherboard has 2 DIMM sockets and can accept 512mb,both DIMM sockets are working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some motherboards can only read one side of a memory stick.

try in the other slot but this may be your prolem especially on an older board.

Return the memory explaining your problem and they should swap it for a single side stick.

Just as an add-in to Fruit Bat /\0/\s reply - the terms singlesided and doublesided do not refer to whether there are chips on one or both sides of the RAM stick. They can also be called low density and high density modules.

The commonest motherboards which have this issue are Intel 440BX chipset boards.
