memory upgrade

I would like to increase my memory from 512MB. My booklet says that the motherboard has 2 dual inline memory module sockets and I can increase memory up to 2GB. Each dimm socket supports 184 pin 2.5 V DIMM with gold plated contacts,2300/266MHz Non ECCC unbuffered DDR SDRAM, Single or double sided DIMM in the following sizes 64MB 8MBit x64,128MB 16MBit x 64 256MB 32MBit x 64, 512MB 64MBit x 64, 1GB 128MBit x 64. I have seen some for sale which state 128MB DDR PC2100 266Mhz, 184pin RAMM. Is this suitable for me? Will there be a space avaiable to put in the extra one, and when I reconnect the computer does the extra automatically show or do I have to do anything(guess you realize I`ve never done this before),is it easy!! Many thanks for your patience

i take it you have an elite K75SA mobo, which can run sdram as well as ddr.

The amount you install will depend on your O/s, cpu etc.

If you are running win 98, 256, 384 or 512, will suffice, if XP a minimum of 512 is recommended.

I suggest you go to click here and use the selector to tell you what is suitable.

All you have to do is switch off, open the case, insert the new memory, close case and power-up. It is so easy, even I managed it with no problems, tantrums etc. that usually accompany my messing with hardware.

I would check using Aid32 first to see if you 512Mb is 1 stick or 2 which if the latter means you have no empty sockets
