Memory Question????

Im goingt o buy new memory as my current pc only has 512mb.

I have used the cruical website and they said my pc can hold 2048mb memory.

This is what cruical says..."Each memory slot can hold DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 512MB per slot."
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory."

Yet on the same page they state"Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
Currently Installed Memory: 512 MB
Available Memory Slots: 1
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: Yes
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.93GHz Model 4, Stepping 1
CPU Speed: 2934 MHz"

Everest has said i can only hold 1024MB

Who should i believe?

I have only two memory slots in my pc and one is usinmg 512mb. If cruical says that each slot can only hold a max of 512mb why then do they go on to say that i can have 2048mb???

I think the important part of the Crucial analysis is the "not to exceed manufacturer supported memory"

With that taken into account Crucial and Everest are saying the same.

So 1024mb is my limit then?

your best bet would be to check the motherboard manufacturers website for details. if you dont know what it is, everest will tell you the make.

yep, you can safely put 2X1gb sticks of ram in your motherboard.
