32bit windows can only recognise about 3.5GB RAM; another 1GB may be given over to onboard graphics.

When booting the PC, do you see a message like "press tab to see post" or the like? IF so, does it tell you how much RAM installed?

Hi MrNewName

Thanks for your post

I am running 64bit windows 7 ultimate

I hit the tab key while booting and it said that i had 2432MB installed

I then swapped the 2 x 2gig sticks around in the slots and did it again and it still said the same

many thanks

Your second stick of ram is just 512Mb.

Post the serial codes on both sticks of ram.

  Ashrich 19:41 29 Sep 2010

It might be possible that your motherboard can't support 4gb of memory , what make and model is it ?

  Ashrich 21:10 29 Sep 2010

Sorry , just read specs again , I see it does support 4gb , suggesting that the memory controller may be faulty , or your motherboard is fussy about what make of memory you are putting in . Do you get the same result from dram slot 2 each time it is tested ?

Here is the info on my ram sticks :-

Crucial stickers on the stick
CBnctL5006 2GB 2RX*-PC2-5300u-555-12-EO

everest info for the crucial stick reads :-
Serial No D82812EFh (4010944728)

Rendition stickers on the stick
2GIG DDR2 240-Pin-256MX64-PC2-5
D2N811 Rev D

everest info on stick reads
Serial No B044C41h (1095500939)

everytime that i put just one stick in anyone of the two memory slots it always shows 1 x 2 gig ddr2 they have both been in and out and in so many times and it ALWAYS says the sticks are 2 gig

And yes everest's report said that the motherboard supports up to 4gig please checkout
report in the ist post

many thanks

Hi folks

I have contacted crucial memory scanned my comp with their scanner aslo emailed and told them i wanted the fastest memory for my motherboard so they sent me 2 x 2gig DDR2-800 (400 MHz) Micron 16HTF25664AY-800J1

so well pleased with the fast service they supplies i intalled my new sticks

BUT still not reading correct amount my scan shows i have the sticks but not my system it still says 2.50gig(2.37usable)
