Memory not recognised

why does a computer not recognise 2 sticks of sisoft sandra it states 128mb, in the system bios it states 128mb if i take one stick it changes so thats ok. But in device manage on the general tab it states 64mb and when the computer boots it states 64mb. the motherboard is an intel b1440zx. i am completely baffled on this one any suggestions

could be you have onboard graphics set at 64mb .do u only have 128ram

Try another system info programme such as Aida32 - it gives more info on your system than Sandra. From

I agree with tony1160 it looks like you have shared graphics and if so, 64mb is too high, you need to change it to 32mb in the BIOS.

The motherboard has no on board graphics.

In the bios 64mb is allocated to graphics but the only option is 64mb or 256 mb so i left it as it was.

i have tried 5 different 64mb sticks of ram in different combinations the only changes are in the bios it reports 64mb not 128mb , but the problem remains. I am convinced the ram is working at 128mb by the speed the system operates
