In little over 1 week I have lost 30GB of available memory. How can I get it bkck

What do you mean, most PCs don't have that much memory, the most RAM memory that winxp will see is 3GB. are you really talking about space on your hard drive? if so have you emptied your recycle bin lately?

  Maurice9735 10:56 15 Dec 2006

Yes I do mean space on hard drive.
Hard drive cheked approx 10 days ago
56 GB free space out of 69+ GB,I had
transfered all my music & audio books
to DVD in an attempt to solve a
different problem .
I also cleared re-cycle bin & temporary
files.I also downloaded REGICURE(a free error
checking system) It reported 1858 errors
the three largest items being.

Shared DLL 738 errors
Pathfile ref 542 ---
Empty registry item 492 errors.

Unsure of the truth of this report, it may
just be a sales ploy, I uninstalled and DID A RUNNER.I hope this info will be of assistance
to anyone able to help.

oh I forgot to repeat 56 GB is now only 24+ GB
Finding out how or why might solveother problems

Download and install treesize ( free version )click here. This will locate all your large files. i suspect that you still have huge temp files you can't see.

Also download and ccleaner ( free ) click here and run this.

Also check your system restore settings. If you a have a hard disk of 56GB in size. System restore will take 6Gb of that hard drive for system restore. To alter this.

right click my computer > properties > system restore > highlight C > settings > and move the slider down to around 1Gb.

That will give you 5Gb of space back.

Also right click the recycle bin > properties > global > pop a tick in " use settings for all drives ", if you have more than one hard drive. Move the slider down to 1 or 2 % from the default 10%.

I did as you suggested.

ccleaner did an all options clean-up
would you beleive it cleaned 177 Byts

Treesize did its job but I was confused
bt so many numbers. I think the number
we were lookinf for was C/ 6207

I hope this can help with the problem.

  Maurice9735 20:20 15 Dec 2006

I'm sorry I forgot to say mooving the slider
alteration made little or no difference.

The space available is now 26.3 GB

I have found the lost (CORD).
I did a further disc clean-up. On compleation,
a window appeared offering further options
I clicked system restore clean -up.
I now have 63 GB of free space out of 69 GB
total. I have lost start points but what the hell, I got the missing space back
