memory latency

What are the best latency and timings for overclocking ram or for ram in general? CL5 5-5-5-18 or 5-5-5-15
I assume it has something to do with clock cycles. Therefore cl 5 is faster than cl 6.
And the timing 5-5-5-15 is faster than 5-5-5-18.
Can you confirm or put me right as i am upgrading my ram.

You are on the right track, but you must buy memory that can take the faster speeds. If not (and you overclock it) you will be headed for an expensive mistake :)

Check out Novatech and Crucial for the best quality deals..It will be more expensive than bog standard DDR2 or DDR3 but you will be able to overclock.

This is what i have in mind.

Overclocks well.
Overclocking it may not be an issue thoughas i may just clock the cpu for now.

Opps, posted it's self somehow before i was ready?
Dropping the ram multiplyer to 2.5 will give 667mhz.By my reconning i should be able to clock from Q6600 @2.4ghz to around 3.0 ghz to get 800mhz on the ram, although reviews say the ram is stable at 1000mhz.

Reviews are ok, but what do the manufacturers spec's say? That's the only one I would trust :)
