Memory Installation

I am sure I read somewhere that if you install 512 Mb of memory it performs better if it's 2x256Mb cards rather than 1x 512 Mb card.
Anyone have a view on this subject?

It only makes a difference if you have a dual channel motherboard (such as an Asus A7N8X) - your user manual should tell you this.
If it does (support dual channel) you may not notice the difference in day to day operation - so my advice would be to buy one stick of 512mb safe in the knowledge that you will be putting a second in before too long.

just remember that winME (and older versions too?) don't alwalys work with more than 512Mb..
