I'm not sure if my PC has an KT7-RAID motherboard or a KT7A- RAID, I need to buy more memory how do i find out which board I have or will It make a difference?
The PC is 1400GHZ and has two empty memory slots
Also I looked on the Crucial web site and the suggested memory was SDRAM, but when I look in the manual that I got with the m/board it only mentions DIMM, as a novice this is very confusing can any one shed some light for a absolute PC novice?
Both the KT7A and the KT7a raid take sdramm ( dimms)
The maximum ram you can put in each slot is 3 X 512Mb, so that is why it says the board will support 1.5gig = 1500Mb. If you are using windows 98 or 98se, don't go over 512Mb for a combination of all 3. With XP you can use as much as you like.
It would be nice to know the speed of the sdram, it is probably 133Mhz but it may be 100Mhz. Download this click here and run it. Then look at computer > overclock > spd memory moduels.Like this. click here This will tell us the ammount and speed of ram you have.
dan 11 It says 133MHz is that what you wanted to know? I cannot download the suggested programme as it is my other PC that needs the memory and it needs to be on the one I need to upgrade is that right?
The PC im upgrading is Win ME do I have to stick to 512MB for all three slots? It has 265Mb in the one used slot
Dan11 Can I just ask you do you mean buy 156Mb of pc133 sdram to go nto the second slot, then if I need more on top of that pick CL2.5 eec ram, or do I get this for the first purchase also (hope thats clear lol) "More help with porn removal" was a previous prob did not notice it had jumped into the title box..its sorted .lol
