Memory, Belarc and Crucial

Hi - can anyone help with this, please? I'm thinking about increasing my memory and a Belarc scan shows the motherboard as a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 which, according to their website, will support this:

1. Type: Dual channel DDR400/ 333/ 266 -184pin
2. Max capacity: Up to 4GB by 4 DIMM slots

This is what Belarc reported:

2048 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'A0' has 8192 MB
Slot 'A1' has 8192 MB
Slot 'A2' is Empty
Slot 'A3' is Empty

I did a Crucial scan which says they don't have any compatible upgrades, and shows this:

Maximum Memory Capacity: 16384 MB
Currently Installed Memory: 16384 MB
Available Memory Slots: 2
Number of Banks: 4

Does this sound right to you? If I've only got 2GB in 2 slots, why can't I have 2 more in the remaining slots? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Some thing is reading your memory incorrectley.

"
Slot 'A0' has 8192 MB
Slot 'A1' has 8192 MB
Slot 'A2' is Empty
Slot 'A3' is Empty
"

That says you are using 16gig of memory in your computer. Eh!!!!!!

" Maximum Memory Capacity: 16384 MB
Currently Installed Memory: 16384 MB "

that is also saying you are using 16gig of ram. WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Right click my computer and pick properties. How much ram is showing in the " system " window?

Thak heavens - that's what I thought too! No, I've only got 2gig. Be nice to have 16, though, wouldn't it?

Is there something similar to Belarc, do you know?

SIW says I've got 2 sticks of SDRAM DDR 1024MBytes which would seem a bit better, wouldn't it?

Wonder why Belarc got it so wrong...

Thanks everyone!

Personally I wouldn't trust belarc to say I was looking at a computer screen:)
