media player running on boot up

when i boot up my windows xp home, windows media player starts automatically, though it won't work properly. once i shut it down and restart it normally it's ok. but it is not listed in msconfig, or my startup folder, and i can't see any setting in the actual player to make it run on it's own.

Try Mike Lin's startup control panel

What version is it?
However, reinstall it and restart Windows XP.
