Media Player 10 Problem

  Pumas 00:38 13 Sep 2005

Since I upgraded from version 9 to 10, Windows Media Player is impossible to use. It uses up so much of my processor power that I can barely play a CD!

When playing a CD, processor usage goes to 100% with at least 90% of this being taken by Media Player (this happens no matter what you are doing with media player). This leaves the computer unusable, as no multitasking is possible. Even changing the volume takes an enormous effort from the player sometimes.

Can anyone suggest a solution? I have an Athlon 2600+ with 512MB RAM. Surely that's enough to play a CD! (My old 486 seemed to manage)

Great site johnnyrocker(!), but I use media player 10 on other computers and would prefer it if it would work on this one.

Any clues anyone?
