Media Monkey wont rip to mp3

I tried today to rip an album to mp3 and got this from mediamonkey:

Due to licensing restrictions, the free version of MediaMonkey can not bundle mp3 encoding functionality beyond a 30 day trial.

Then it invited me to upgrade. I thought it was free? I then read somewhere that downloading Lame codec(?) would solve this, but the page was in German. However I tried, but the version I installed seemed to be older than the one already there.

Is there any solution to this? I no longer like itunes, its messy with mp4s and duplicate copies etc. And WMP 10 is ok but is not the best at looking for album info. It couldnt find this particular album by Arvo Part but mediomonkey found the exact one.

Anysolutions or suggestions? Is there a better medai player?

thank you

Have you tried Windows Media Player?

The LAME codec is easily found from a range of sources, including:

The LAME encoder is readily listed on the MediaMonkey website and it's not in German:

Seems to be the previous version from above.

You can also try these programs

Yes I normally use Windows Media Player, but sometimes its not very good at finding album info, as I mentioned. In this case it found the wrong album so the tracks were listed wrong. MediaMonkey found the correct one but of course wont rip!

thanks

I went to the Media Monkey link you gave and got this

"Record CDs to your hard drive using the high quality LAME MP3 encoder*, M4A encoder*, OGG encoder, WMA encoder, or FLAC encoder). MediaMonkey’s CD Ripper copies the CDs, automatically filling in track properties via freedb.

* The MP3 encoder is limited to 30 days in the free version."

So in effect it wont rip to mp3 after 30 days. Free version not much use so!
