MEDIA CARD SLOT NOT AUTOPLAYING & DEFAULT SETTING

I used to be able to slot my XD Camera Card into my media slot and it would autoplay but now it will not. I've changed the drive's settings to autoplay but as soon as I check them again, even though I've clicked OK, they have reverted back to 'music files'.

I've read the many previous threads on here and have run the autoplay wizard but it says the autoplay V2 event cannot be fixed. It says it found problems but cannot fix them. Please help. My camera and laptop are only 6 months old and I am gutted that I'm getting problems with what used to work so well. Could this be related to downloading this authenticity stuff from Windows? I'd be eternally grateful for any help.

I tried the system restore but every single restore point doesn't work. I just get the message that my system could not be restored and no changes had been made to my computer??

This is a copy of the message I got from Autoplay Wizard, means nothing to me!!

have you check within device manager for any yellow exclaimation marks against possibly Storage Volumes. You may need to uninstall these and reboot and let xp reinstall the drivers.

Hi Skidzy, I checked device manager couldn't see any yellow exclamation marks. What would i need to uninstall?? Many thanks for your advice.

Oops meant to say also under Disk drives in device manager.Expand the + key to identify the correct one.

Hi Skidzy, uninstalled it but still doesn't work??? And worried as to why my system restore won't work?? Been back to Currys today they worked on it an hour and told me to put system recovery disk in? But I'll lose so much stuff that'll need reinstalling. Do you think that's the only way. It's only six months old? Thanks.

For your System Restore issue:

Do you have Norton Antivirus (internet security suite blah blah blah)installed?

Did you know that it causes SR not to function, here's the work-around anyway.

Hi Jack, thanks for that I didn't know that, and neither did Currys or the two IT specialists that I saw today, so thank you. I'll try it and get back to you! Watch this space!

Hi, as you said Norton was stopping System Restore from working. I was able to run SR but when I did Norton had disappeared from my system??! I had to uninstall and reinstall it but even after the SR the media card drive wouldn't autoplay. What is really baffling me is how I change the setting in the autoplay box and click apply, it doesn't work, and when I look again it has reverted itself back to 'music file' (even though they're pictures as it is a XD/SD camera card drive) as if some default is set somewhere?? Any ideas??? From a very frustrated and tired mummy of two who is very soon going to be using this laptop as nothing more than a very expensive coaster. Many many thanks in anticipation of a reply.
