McDonalds WiFi

If I sit outside McDonalds, my new laptop can detect their WiFi, but it can't connect to it. I assumed I would be able to access BT Openzone, and then on to my ISP.

Did I assume wrong(ly)?

Its probably encrypted to stop unauthorised people using it. Unless of course you are allowed to?

I was led to believe it could be used as a normal hotspot. I know you can buy vouchers in McDonalds,, but I don't get the option to enter any details.

If you are registered to use openzone, and have a user name and password, it should work OK.

You can check on the openzone site, if the particular place where you are talking about has connection to openzone.

All the areas are listed.
