When I log off of my Acer laptop the above message appears - this programme is running
end now or cancel - if you press end now it does
not end and you have to cancel - as far as I am aware this did not happen until I installed
BT broadband. What is the programme and how do I stop it running.

Thank you

try going into MSCONFIG and disabling BTHelpNotifier and see if that stops it. You will have to restart the computer after doing this.

Did you also get an error window when booting saying that a dll file had not been found? This is easily removed, without apparent ill effects, by clicking 'ok', but is slightly annoying.

I found that disabling the two entries of BTHelpNotifier in MSConfig cured both this problem and the MCCWSAWindows 'file not responding' message when logging out. After making this change, you should get the usual reminders when booting that the start-up system has changed, but these may be switched off as well.

I'm a little surprised that after several months BT/Yahoo have not corrected this software fault, but maybe it's relatively uncommon and not serious.

This is a bug in the recent BT Broadband help upgrade. A fix is being sought
