Mcaffee v AVAST or AVG

I've got Mcaffee enterprise anti virus on XP pro. I would like to know if AVAST or the other free avg's are just as good in terms of performance, features and whether they are less resource intensive.
If I changed to AVG would I get a faster boot up time compared to mcaffee?

NOD32 is faster, lighter on system resources, has a better long term record at detecting known viruses, and a far far better record of detecting unknown viruses - and checks for updates every hour.

Just all round better - 30 day free trial.

Or the eset security suite which include a firewall too.

Thanks, but I'm after a free avg.

Been using avast! for years, the free version does loose the advanced user interface, but you don't really need it. very nice and now includes anti spyware and rootkit coverage.
Can't comment on how it compares resource wise with Mcaffee, but I've run it on 200Mhz W98 systems without problems.

avg free is best imo, always used avast once over, avg edges it
