MB USB2 Header

  iqs 12:22 16 Jun 2008

I have a Foxconn MB 946GZ7MA/946PL7MA

There are 2 USB2 header connections,with 9 pins.5 top,4 bottom.

My PC case has 2 front USEB ports.I have plugged the 5 pin connector into the top 5 pins. The same on the second port.

This leaves 4 pins left on each header. Is this the correct connection,or can I connect the 2 front USB ports into 1 header?.

Check the motherboard manual for the correct pin out and if both headers are used

Normally you can use both of the pin out on the same header the 4 pin on the top is USB 1 and

the bottom 5 pin is USB2 the fifth wire is a second ground

The manual is not that clear, but I could be wrong.
This is what the picture shows

VCC D1- D1+ GND empty

Yes you can just connect both cable to the same header top 4 pins USB1, bottom five pins USB2

All ports are USB2 just listed as Ports USB1 USB2 USB3 USB4 etc, you can have up 8 USB2 ports on some motherboards

4 in the back, 2 in front, plus a spare header on the motherboard for USB card reader, build in USB web cam etc
