I use Photoshop a lot and I currently have 2Gb of memory. I want to increase this to 4Gb, my Motherboard will accept up to 4Gb but will Windows XP?

Thanks Pine Man, so I can go to 4Gb's it's just that XP may show less than 4Gb's but all the memory is available.

Exactly that.

Probably safer to say more or less!

"so I can go to 4Gb's it's just that XP may show less than 4Gb's but all the memory is available."

Only the memory that shows is available (usually about 3-3.5GB)

The rest is not accessible as the addresses for it will be already used elsewhere in the system.

Thanks everyone for your help.

That being the case, why spend the extra $ to install 4G if only 3.5 is usable. Less $ to add extra 500 to the existing 3G. This is what I did, but if PC is somehow using all the extra 500, but it does not show, them great. Any idea if extra 500 has worth?

Retiredidiot has 2GB RAM not 3GB.

If he has dual channel he MUST have matched pairs of RAM for it to work properly.
