Mass'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)'emails

  EmptyJay 07:21 02 Jul 2003

For the past 5 days we've been receiving hundreds of apparently returned emails from hotmail addresses, but we've not sent any emails out! Our virus definitions are up to date, and system has been scanned. How can we stop it? Help!

probably spam worst case senario your email account has been hijacked working on the basis of no virus activity best advice i can give if you are getting that sort of volume is contact you isp and get them to look into it

Your account may not have been hijacked. They might have just used your account name (probably by chance) as the return address - hence you get the returned mail.

If you can just get a new Hotmail Account...

"Thanks for that. Thing is i don't actually have a hotmail account! Any ideas?

Sorry i mis-read the message.

The problem is that it appears that someone has spammed people with Hotmail accounts and used your e-mail address as the return address.

Contact your ISP to see if they can filter the return messages and delete them.
