Mass storage devices

My PC is no longer recognising removable usb drives in windows explorer. I have checked device manager which shows the usb hub & storage devices as working normally. Any advice gratefully required.

Do they appear in my computer? If not, you may have a faulty usb port or ports, or faulty USB devices themselves (always use safely remove hardware when uplugging these, as failing to do so can ruin them)

To test, borrow another device that you know is working, and try it on your machine.

I have 2 removeable drives and they both work fine on another computer. The USB device icon appears in the taskbar and I can click to safely remove device. Device manager says all usb hardware is working normally and I can see my drives within device manager, just can't see them on Explorer or my computer. Tried looking at the "start/Run" from main menu & drives don't appear there either.

Open device manager and navigat to the usb hub entries.

Right click each one in turn, choose properties and then uninstall

Do this for all of them

If this fails to work, check the motherboard connections for the ports.
