Making a Dual Boot system XP querey

Hi folks,

for complicated reasons I need to make a dual boot system with both boots runing XP pro (some of the progs are interfering with each other and this will allow me to run them hopefully without this cross interference).

I'm going to get and install a second internal drive on which to install the second XP but my question is two fold.

Is there any legal problem running the same copy of XP off each drive? After all they're both in the same pc and neither one will run at the same time as the other so surely it's just like reinstalling it on the same pc?

Also is there any practical problem with installing the same copy of xp like this?

Cheers

legal problem
No one license per machine therefore two copies on same machine is OK.

any practical problem with installing the same copy of xp like this?

Disconnect your current master drive and make the slave drive master and install Windows.

Then, make the drive slave again and reconnect your master drive.

You can then edit the boot.ini file for a dual boot system if you want.

Here`s how the boot.ini should look.

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
