Making a copy of a read-only file writable

  tallboy 10:58 22 May 2014

I have received a read-only Excel spreadsheet (Windows 7 OS) that I would like to write to - once I have made a copy of it to write to.

How do I access the file switches in Win 7 to make the change? (I guess this may involve accessing the parameters in a Command Prompt window.)

I would be very grateful to hear how to do it.

It should be possible to do this simply. Once copied, right-click on the file and select "properties". At the bottom of the pop-up box, simply de-select "read-only".
