I am (trying) running Win XP home edition with SP2 included.
I keep getting the following Error report:
THE PROCESS FAILED TO RUN LSASS.EXE

I cant boot to anything as the screen goes blank and the Lappy switches off.

Ideas??? I am stumped, I have some precious photos on my lappy so if i reinstall windows will I lose them all? Is there a way to preserve them photos?

Thanks from the guy whose head is almost bald from this problem.

Thanks for that Graham,
However!

The PC wont even allow me to boot past the 'starting windows' screen... it just gives the error message and 'phut' -shuts down!

The windows XP Disc is no help either...it gets to the same spot and it too dies

Can u help any further...... its most distressing as i Have some irreplaceable photos on the C drive, and dont want to lose them.

Music Lover :

Using another PC go to this web site :

Download the free virus removal tool onto floppy disc or other removable media and follow all the instructions.

Disabling system restore as per the instructions is a must otherwise the virus will keep coming back.

When done update your anti virus software with the latest definitions and also run some of the freely available "Spyware" removers such as Lavasoft - Ad Aware, Sptware Blaster, and Spybot Search & Destroy.

Good luck !
