lower case filenames

  bbmf474 18:59 12 Apr 2009

I am in the process of updating my web pages and I cannot name a file in lower case.
It insists on on index.HTM instead of index.htm
I know this will cause me problems when uploading
Any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance

htm or html? I always thought it was index.html (Hyper Text Markup Language).

What are you trying to rename it with?

Thanks for the tips
All I am trying to do is to rename a file index.HTM to index.htm.
I last had this trouble 5 years ago and I am sure I ticked/unticked a box in XP -possibly a box named "allow lower case name"s or similar wording

-if that helps
thanks bbmf

Many thanks to Zak and octal for their suggestions.
I am not familiar or confident with scripts etc but have managed to solve my problem by searching my backups files and finding a lower case file which I have now successfully used
Thanks once again
