Lost WIN 2000 disc

  iqs 18:18 08 May 2009

I have been asked to repair a PC for a friend running WIN 2000.
The OS requires reinstalling, but she has lost the OS disc.
The COA is still attached to the PC.
She is very reluctant to purchase another copy of the OS,is there a legit way of obtaining a free copy of 2000?.

borrow a 2000 disc from someone else and just add the COA Keycode on at the finish.

Is there an I386 folder on the HD?

I have already ask around if anyone has a 2000 disc,no luck.
The i386 folder cant be accessed, the HD is to badly corrupted to boot or repair, have tried various routes all have failed.
Cheers all

I have a copy of Win 200 pro that I can copy & send to you.

Maybe PC Advisor will pass you my e-mail, then you can let me have an address to send it to, no cost to you involved, happy to help.

Hi teewhy,

If you click on the yellow envelope by a user name, you can send a private message to that person. It should go to the email address you use when you log into PC Advisor.

of an original software disk and supply it to someone else. You must either supply the original disk, or nothing at all.

Hi all,

I have been in contact with teewhy again. He will be loaning me his original copy of WIN 2000,which i will be posting back to him when complete.
I believe this is the better option.

Thank you all for your help.
