Lost User Identity?

This is on an XP Pro machine.
3 user accounts on the machine. All well when shutdown last Friday, then Monday morning, one of teh user accounts has no settings, ie. no wallpaper, no printer, no Outlook account - nothing which was set as a user parameter. Other two users unaffected. Any ideas on this - what has happened, can it be recovered and how can this be prevented in the future.
The only thing which happened on the Friday was the installation of Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Pro

Only thing I can think is that that users Documents and Seeitngs got corrupted then were rebuilt when next logged on. If you back up C:| Documents & Settings, you should protect aginast a recurrence.
