Hi, I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3. I use TuneUp 2008. I was do a clean up on the PC yesterday. Suddenly when I went to turn off the PC I noticed the the Standby button was greyed out. I have tried TuneUp restore and System Restore. I have tried all system restore dates. All System Restore failed. Any help with system restore or with the standby/hibernate button will be app.

Have you tried control panel.power Options to see if you can turn them on from there.

Will try that now

I can't see any option for the standby/hibernate mode in power options.

i can't remember how to get to it in xp but it will be accessed by advanced power settings in power options.it may be that you have to click on your change plan settings or similar.
