Lost half the hard drive ?

  marneygirl 13:19 01 Jan 2007

Got an acer aspire t135 with 80g hard drive which was partitioned 40g/40g.
Had virus problems so decided to wipe the whole system and install my windows home I have.
Have now only got a 40g hard drive though
How do I get my other 40g back ?

Right click My computer - Manage - Storage - Disk management.

Can you see the other half of the drive there?

yes I think I can ;)

I have a box come up that says

Disk 0
pqservice;3.90 gb fat32 healthy (eisa)
(c:) 35.07 gb ntfs healthy (system)
35.56 gb unallocated

so I guess that unallocated bit is my missing bit ??

Right click on the unallocated partition and select "Format" WARNING you will lose any files stored on that partition. After the format has completed you will be able to see the drive in windows.

You may not get the format command when you right click the un-allocated space.

You may just get the option to create a new logical drive or partition. Pick this option and it will walk you through a very easy wizard.
