lost 2 hard drives

i was using a program to convert a movie to dvd and for some reason i have lost 2 hard drives, could it be some form of spyware

i was using a program divx to dvd i did one moive then when i looked for my f drive it had goen and so had one of my others,one has appeared back from nowhere but still i am missing my f drive.It must be there as that is the one i've got my xp installed on

When i click on my computer to go look in either my e or f drive for files i only have my c drive.

Try system restore and go back to before your movie conversion and then start again but check your software doesn't automatically rename drives, I found this problem once.Good luck

Hard drives or Optical drives?

You should see your drives in the Device manager.

Desktop> My Computer> Properties> Hardware> Device Manager. You should see your DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Click on the entry and you should see your drives.

If you can see them you can check if they are working correctly. Open the drive you require look in Properties and it will tell you if your drive is working properly.
