Loss of sound through audio playback in Windows XP

  Mat2 22:28 14 Mar 2003

I have got a little problem with my computer which i hope somebody can shed some light to. When i try to play back audio CD's in the CD-Rom after about 5 Mins Approx and the CD-Rom stops responding but it allows the media player to be closed. But when i play CD's in the CD-RW they play with no problems. The CD-rom and CD-RW are connected to the same cable. The computer Spec is AMD Duron 800Mhz, ATI Graphics Card, 20Gb Hard Drive, Creative Soundblaster 4.1 sound card and it runs Windows Xp (home Edition). All the relevant drives have been reinstalled but the problem persists.

Has I am running out of ideas any help would be greatfully recieved
