logitech kbd/mouse not installing after a crash

  micsurfer 13:53 28 May 2008

I was using my Chillblast Trojan PC online and IE crashed. I could still use it (?) but when I used it the same afternoon the wifi keybd/mouse were u/s. I knew the battery was critical in the mouse but I replaced them and installed them in my sons PC all worked OK. Tried 2 reinstall in my PC - 3 lights on the receiver but not working - tried all sorts. I used a wired setup OK too. Also noted that my internet connection to TalkTalk was wiped out too. Any suggestions?

internet connection to TalkTalk

Assumming through a USB modem maybe USB ports giving problems.

Using a wired keyboard
Refresh USB Ports
Use Drive clean up to remove USB device drive info from the registry
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.
Your equipment should now be recognised.

I have tried uninstaling and driveclean, but the usb adapter is still not being recognised. tried the printers' usb but not recog and this is alarming - maybe frazzled ports?

Check USB enabled in BIOS
check no exclamation marks against USB in device manger

Can you get anything to work in any ports?

nothing working in ports. no exclamation marks in dev man. I have checked "fresh diagnose" - free software - and it states in the "port connectors" part of the program that
Internal connector type -None
External Reference designator - USB0
External connector type - Other
Port Type - USB.

I am now checking the BIOS to see if USB is enebled.

looked at bios and usb is enabled and 1.1 and v2 are there.

I checked inside the case to see if anything has come loose but all looked fine and plugged in.
